Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Las Vegas is a strange place. I think everyone should go at least once before you’re too old to be irresponsible. To put it bluntly, Las Vegas is a town of extremes. There is nothing mundane, normal, or average about it. If you’re going to Vegas, you’re either in agony or ecstasy, often vacillating between those two emotions on a minute-by-minutes basis. Everything is over the top. They have every amenity and pleasure imaginable, and then they go out of their way to make it even more extravagant. Winning in Vegas makes you feel invincible, losing in Vegas, well, it just seems that every structure in that city was built to mock you. For me, that’s a huge part of the allure, but then again, I’m a gambler by nature.
I apologize for the extended absence. Life has been taking quite a toll on my free time, especially free time for writing, but, I will say that the number of ideas that have been log jammed in my head are many and that in the near future I’ll be putting out a lot of material. As always 95% of the ideas I have are pure unadulterated crap (you should see the number of drafts I have in storage), but hopefully the 5% that get out to you guys will be something that you enjoy.
For the next 6 days or so, I’ll be in Las Vegas, albeit, on family vacation, so, if nothing else, I’ll experience a whole new side of Vegas aside from the carousing that I normally do. Also, my goal is to wake up in the morning and get a solid post out each day. We’ll see if that’s at all possible, but I think it should be doable.
Luck be a lady.
